Photos from Sisters Speak Out: June 24 Community Prayer and Rally
The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, participated in a national campaign co-sponsored by more than 50 congregations of Roman Catholic sisters and 10 Catholic advocacy and social justice organizations who traveled from Indiana to Washington, D.C., on Monday, June 23, through Wednesday, June 25. The Sisters also hosted their own event at the Woods, which mirrored the action that was happening simultaneously in Washington, D.C. The Gospel inspired the campaign to advocate for policies that recognize the fundamental God-given dignity of every individual, promote protections for the most vulnerable among us and conserve our common home.
Several other “echo events” were held nationwide for those who could not travel to the United States’ capital. Sister Tracey Horan, SP, attended a similar event in Arizona as part of her ministry there. In addition, Providence Associates organized an “echo event” at Christ Church Cathedral on Monument Circle in Indianapolis.
The Sisters of Providence co-sponsored the event in Washington, D.C., the same day, with more than 50 Congregations of women religious. Sister Barbara Battista, SP, and Sister Joni Luna, SP, along with postulant Maité Rodriguez-Mora, attended the event in Washington, D.C.
At the local event, the Sisters of Providence prayed the rosary, a Catholic Scripture based prayer. The event also focused on elements of love, mercy and justice.
Community members were invited to the local event, which was set up as a way for those whose faith compelled them to stand and support those without a voice.
Photos from the Indianapolis event were provided by Kim Tabor. Photos from the Washington, D.C., event were provided by Casey Kellum. Photos from the event in Arizona were provided by Charish Badzinski. Additional photos from the Washington, D.C., event were provided by NETWORK Lobby.

Thank you, Sisters of Providence and Providence Community, for demonstrating the Love, Mercy, and Justice that must guide us all, as you have shown us here. You live it every day. Thank you.
And thank you so much, Jason, for these wonderful pictures. You captured so well the spirit in this Community Prayer and Rally.
Beautiful representation across the nation!
Thank you Sisters for the love, support and prayers for the innocent victims
