Spiritual ministries

If you are in need of encouragement or prayer, the Sisters of Providence can help. You may even say that it’s our specialty!

The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods host an ecumenical Taizé Prayer gathering the second Tuesday of every month, from 7-8 p.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

Prayer

Prayer is a vital outreach ministry of the Sisters of Providence. We welcome pilgrims and visitors to pray at the sacred spaces at the Woods: the Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, Our Lady of Providence National Shrine, the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. You may visit and pray at several outdoor shrines, an outdoor Stations of the Cross and a labyrinth. You are welcome to join us for Sunday Mass at 11 a.m. and for Taizé prayer at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.

Other spiritual options

Spiritual programming (retreats, workshops, presentations, book studies) and spiritual direction are offered through Providence Spirituality & Conference Center at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

Feel free to browse this site for various aides for personal or group prayer: reflections of our sisters for major feasts and celebrations, Gospel reflections for each Sunday;  our prayer search tool for new ideas and original prayers by the sisters and a request form for intercessory prayer for yourself or someone in need.

Providence Associates

If you’re looking for a closer relationship with the Sisters of Providence, consider becoming a Providence Associate. Associates are women and men of varying faith traditions who walk with the SPs and there are currently more than 200 in relationship with the Congregation.
