The commitment that Sister Dawn signed on behalf of the Providence Community states, among other points, that the Sisters of Providence are willing “To take up the urgent appeal of Laudato Si’ to listen and respond to the lurings of Providence to attend to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor by making it a community priority.”

Kate found the “fit” she was looking for with the Sisters of Providence. She found a group of religious women whose spirituality fit with hers and who shared her love of music. For Sister Kate, both of those characteristics define much of who she is.

“I think it is my Irish heritage. When I get worked up about something I go to Chapel. I say, 'Okay, Lord. You got me into this. It’s your job to help me work it out, Providence of God.'” If something bad was there, something good would always come along. Being an administrator, a supervisor, a leader in any capacity brings the challenge with the reward.

On Friday, December 17, 2021, the Sisters of Providence celebrated the annual 90’s party in the Providence Hall Dining Room. A total of 37 Sisters of Providence and a special friend were recognized during the gala for reaching the milestone.…

I think walking a labyrinth can be a prayer experience in the same way that anything we do with quiet reverence and intention is prayer. I find sitting in prayer very challenging. The helpful part of labyrinth as a prayer practice is that it is an embodied experience. The path allows me to bring my whole self.

The 40th General Chapter of the Sisters of Providence may have been delayed by Covid-19, but it wasn't stopped. Members of the Providence Community gathered from near and far at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Oct. 21-25. It was so good to be together again! We prayed and played, planned and listened and selected leadership for the next five years. We have so much to be thankful for!
