It was to be staffed by six different orders of religious sisters, two priests and several lay teachers. The Sisters of Providence staffed the Commercial Department with two sisters. The sisters remained in this position until 1963, when an acute shortage of high school teachers necessitated their withdrawal....

Reitz Memorial took the place of two other high schools: Bosy’ Catholic High and Assumption Academy, a girls’ school. It was financed by Francis Joseph Reitz. The building was decided on Jan. 1, 1925, by Indianapolis Bishop Chartrand. In the early years, boys and girls were taught on separate floors and by separate faculties. ...arrived in January 1946, and St. John School opened for the second semester. Growth of the school was such that additions were made to the school and the convent in 1951. Also in that year, St. John High School was opened. In 1963, a Knights of Columbus building was donated and adapted as a new high school. For financial reasons and lack of personnel, the high school was closed in 1970. The last Sisters of Providence left Robstown in 1985....

...the central part of the city of Indianapolis were changing. Cathedral High School for Boys, located across the street from the former St. Agnes Academy, was in need of a new location. It was decided by the sisters to sell the property to Cathedral High School with the agreement that the school would be co-educational. Several Sisters of Providence remained on the staff of the new school. Ladywood-St. Agnes merged with Cathedral in 1976 after six years of great work....
