Mother Theodore, Providence Associate Kate Childs Graham: writers encouraging goodness
It’s doubtful Mother Theodore wrote so her words would be preserved. She may have written to encourage others to persevere. Providence Associate Kate Childs Graham, speech writer for Vice President Kamala Harris, seems to have that same hope — that her writing will encourage others to persevere in living lives of faith, commitment, candor and compassion.

The sisters treasure your financial support!
The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods have always treasured our friends who give a donation every month. Now we have created an official program called Providence GEMs (Gives Every Month), to show our appreciation for these faithful givers and to shine a light on monthly giving.

A legacy of love, prayer and service
When today’s Sisters of Providence describe the spirituality of Mother Theodore, they speak of her deep, joyous love of God. Of her warm affection for her sisters. Her abiding trust in Providence. Of her resilience. Her passion for the mission. And her practical piety.

Leaning and leading like Saint Mother Theodore
me in the community’s history with a particular responsibility on behalf of our mission has so challenged me to ‘lean on Providence,’ that I know I will never be the same. It has been a grace-filled time for me, during which I have been challenged beyond measure to ‘give the Holy Spirit free access to my mind and heart.’

Season of Creation 2021 Prayer
We wanted to share this prayer from Season of Creation, the organization’s 2021 World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, which is September 1, 2021.

Journals and Letters week 47: Letting things take their course
Mother Theodore’s long letters have a common theme, loving one another. She advises Mary Xavier to “bear with the defects of others. Endeavor not to cause others to suffer, and you yourself try to endure the little annoyances which are unavoidable in the necessary relations with others.”

Sister Joni Luna makes perpetual profession of vows
'I had to undergo a makeover, which included shedding old, unuseful ideas that did not serve me spiritually.'

Get to know Providence Associate Beverly Adams
With the next year’s invite, I decided why not give the Providence Associates a try? My first visit to the Woods was astonishing. Once on the inside, there was a sense of peace. All of God’s disciples were welcoming, nice and full of love. That has become one of the best life-altering choices I’ve made.

Called to transformation, called to transform
That is what we celebrate today, after all, the witness of two vibrant women willing to keep turning to the God who calls, willing to be transformed in order to transform, willing to sow seeds that others may come to reap.

Mother Theodore offers support for living with mental illness
Some mornings Mother Theodore keeps me from my impulses by saying, “The way is not yet clear, grope along slowly. Be patient. Be trustful.”
Sometimes when I am overwhelmed, I read, “We are not called upon to do all the good possible, but only that which we can do.”
Some mornings, when I am struggling and could use a hug, I open to this, “No one will ever love you as your old Mother Theodore does.”

Congregation collaborates with others to create ‘Death Row Visitation Project’
'“This is an essential part of our justice work.'
