Welcome to our blog. Here, we will share with you stories of our lives as Sisters of Providence. We invite Providence Associates to write in this space also. We hope you find these posts enjoyable and inspirational.

On Monday, May 29, during Mass, the Sisters of Providence will honor the Sisters who have served their country during times of war

'She had a great zeal for the souls of her pupils, their parents, and of those with whom she came in contact.'

The most touching duet was that of Rod and Sister Terese Marie Havlik, Rod’s 8th grade teacher, whom he hadn’t seen in almost 49 years. Sister Terese Marie knew every word, sang and moved gently to the music.

'I've seen what this life is like and I like it.'

'Hundreds of sisters experienced her compassion and down to earth common sense.'

Sunday was a joyous occasion for French and U.S. Sisters of Providence, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College staff and alums, and many others, when a bronze statue of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin was dedicated at the motherhouse of the Sisters of Providence…

'This has been a very enriching experience,'

In my discernment process, Sister Tracey Horan would refer me to the quote of poet Rainer Maria Rilke: “Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps, then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.”

'I've learned so much. It is definitely interesting living community-style, how you experience things together. I've grown a lot.'

The dawning of spring invites us to a spiritual cleaning, as well. Time to clear out and make space for a new way of being in the world. The choices are many:
• To be attentive or to be distracted
• To be blessing or to be blaming
