In this issue of HOPE magazine we explore some of the ways the Providence Community is moving forward together, from sisters in ministry, the the calling of a Providence Associate, to how we are inviting new members.

t’s been a wonderful journey. I love the people. I’ve been so blessed by the African American community. Having shared their story, their faith, their dependence on God, my own journey as a Sister of Providence has been really transformed."

This past weekend, March 11-13, 2022, members of the Providence Community gathered in retreat to reflect on the theme "Images of God." Thirty Providence Associates, candidate-associates and Sisters of Providence gathered in person at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. They were joined by another 47 who joined them virtually.

“You will see many things in new lights if you give the Holy Spirit free access to your minds and your hearts.”

At the orientation, each Providence Associate candidate shared what brought them to the Providence Community. Here is some of what they shared.

Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021 was a day of joy and celebration as we welcomed 18 new Providence Associates. Most were able to gather in person this year to profess their commitments to the mission of love, mercy and justice. We are so thankful that God is calling such wonderful women and men to walk this journey with the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods as part of our Community of Providence. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, lived and led with holiness, honesty, strength and love. She leaves all of us a wonderful example for living God-centered lives of service. In this issue of HOPE, we feature some members of the Providence Community and how they are living out the legacy of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin today. We invite you to join us in living the legacy.

On Tuesday, Sept. 21, we welcomed our new postulant, Leslie Dao of Saint Louis, Missouri, to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods! We are greatly blessed.
The simple postulant entrance ceremony began with prayer with Leslie's family (her oldest brother and his wife accompanied Leslie to the Woods). Then those in new membership who had been accompanying Leslie walked with her to the doors of Providence Hall where Leslie knocked and was welcomed by the General Superior. A small blessing and welcoming ceremony followed.
Please keep Leslie in your prayers as she enters her time of formation as a Sister of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
