Leadership and Vision

The new leadership team consists of Sister Jeanne Hagelskamp (General Superior), Sister Lisa Stallings (Vicar), Sister Anne Therese Falkenstein (General Councilor), Sister Tracey Horan (General Councilor) and Sister Norene Wu (General Councilor). The new leadership team was officially installed during a Eucharistic Liturgy on Saturday, September 5, 2026 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

Sister Jeanne Hagelskamp

Sister Jeanne Hagelskamp is a native of Indianapolis. Prior to being elected to the leadership team, she ministered as the director for the Academy of Teaching and Learning Leadership, as well as being an associate professor in leadership at Marian University, Indianapolis.

Sister Jeanne entered the Congregation on Aug. 23, 1975. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics. She received a Master’s degree in mathematics with a concentration in physics from Purdue University, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership Administrative Supervision from the National College of Education, now known as National Louis University, in Chicago. She also earned a Doctorate of Education degree in Private School Administration from the University of San Francisco. Sister Jeanne ministered as a teacher at Providence High School in New Lenox, Illinois (1977-1979), as well as an instructor in physics and math, and assistant director of financial aid and director of admissions research at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (1979-1982). Her other ministries included teacher of math, physics and computer at Providence-St. Mel in Chicago (1982-1986), curriculum director and a teacher of physics, mathematics and computer science at Providence-St. Mel (1986-1991); principal at Mother Theodore Guerin High School (1991-1997); assistant director of the Institute for Catholic Educational Leadership at the University of San Francisco (1997-2000); faculty member at the University of San Francisco (2000); assistant professor and assistant director of the Institute of Catholic Educational Leadership at the University of San Francisco (2000-2001); principal at Mother Theodore Guerin High School (2001-2002); assistant director/assistant professor for the Institute for Catholic Educational Leadership, director of teacher education and an assistant professor at the University of San Francisco (2002-2005); president of Providence Cristo Rey High School (2006-2009); and principal at Providence Cristo Rey High School (2009-2013).

Sister Anne Therese Falkenstein

Sister Anne Therese Falkenstein is a native of Somerville, Massachusetts. Before being elected to the leadership team, she ministered as a professor in the Department of English Language, Literature and Linguistics; as a special assistant to the president; as a trustee; and as director of the Office of International Affairs at Providence University in Taiwan from 2003-2021.

Sister Anne entered the Congregation on August 27, 1979. She professed perpetual vows on June 4, 1991 and has ministered on the leadership team from 2022-26.

While in Asia, she served on two other executive boards: The Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASEACCU) and the Association of Christian Colleges and Universities in Asia (ACUCA. Sister Anne was also an active member of the International Federation of Catholic Colleges and Universities (IFCU) and the United Board for Christian Education in Asia.

Prior to serving at Providence University, she ministered at Notre Dame High School for girls in Chicago, Illinois, as a department chairperson and teacher from 1989-1994. She also served as a campus minister and recruitment director for Mother Theodore Guerin High School in River Grove, Illinois, from 1988-1989. Sister Anne Therese began her teaching career at Saint Anthony of Padua School in Gardena, California, where she ministered from 1982-1987.

Entering the Congregation in 1979, Sister Anne Therese has a Bachelor’s degree in theology and education from Emmanuel College, a Master’s degree in religious education from Boston College and another Master’s degree in language education from Indiana University as well as a Doctorate in Language Education from Indiana University.

Sister Lisa Stallings

Sister Lisa Stallings is a native of Evansville, Indiana. Prior to being elected to the leadership team, she ministered as the Congregation’s Coordinator of Liturgy.

Sister Lisa entered the Congregation on August 23, 1975 and professed perpetual vows on August 25, 1984. She ministered as the Congregation’s Vicar and General Treasurer from 2011-22.

She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in English and has a master’s degree in English from Indiana University. In addition, she has a master’s degree in Church music from Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer and a master’s of science in theology from Saint Meinrad School of Theology.

Sister Lisa has ministered as a teacher at Our Lady of Providence in Clarksville from 1977-80 and again in 1982 before teaching at Providence-St. Mel in Chicago from 1981-88. Her other ministries include: Director of Music at St. Bernadette Parish in Evergreen Park, Illinois (1989-90); Director of Music at St. William Parish in Chicago (1990-1994); Director of Liturgy at St. James Parish in Elizabethtown, Kentucky (1994-98); Assistant Coordinator of Liturgy at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (1998); Director of Worship at Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville, Kentucky (1998-2009); Coordinator of Liturgical Music for the Sisters of Providence (2009-11); Vicar/General Treasurer for the Sisters of Providence (2011-22); and Coordinator of Liturgy/Volunteer for Connecting Link (2022-23).

Sister Norene Wu

Sister Norene Wu is a native of Taiwan. Prior to being elected to the leadership team, she ministered as the Congregation’s Director of Novices in the United States.

Sister Norene entered the Congregation in 1982 and professed her perpetual vows in 1990. She began ministry as a counselor at Fu Jen University in Taiwan from 1974-85 before serving as the Assistant Director of the Catholic Student Association at Providence College in Taiwan from 1985-89.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Western Language & Literature from Providence College in Taiwan as well as a master’s of science in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University in Maryland. In addition, she has a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Indiana State University.

Her other ministries include: Director of Hostel, Spirituality Center, Taipai, Taiwan (1989-90); Director of Formation, Mother Marie Gratia Spirituality Center, Taiwan (1993-96); Director of Providence Holistic Family Services, Taiwan (1995-99), in addition to being a counselor at Fu Jen Catholic University Counseling Center, Hsin-Chuang, Taiwan (1993-99); Campus Minister, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (1999-2002; Assistant Providence, Department of Social Work and Child Welfare, Providence University, Taichung City, Taiwan (2008-19); and Dean of Student Affairs, Providence University, Taiwan (2012-19).

Sister Tracey Horan

Sister Tracey Horan is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. Prior to being elected to the leadership team, she ministered as the Associate Director of Education and Advocacy for the Kino Border Initiative in Nogales, Arizona.

Sister Tracey entered the Congregation in 2014 and professed perpetual vows in 2002. She has a bachelor’s degree in middle childhood education and Spanish from the University of Dayton.

Her ministries include: Bilingual Community Organizer for the IndyCAN (2016-19); and Education Coordinator for the Kino Border Initiative in Nogales, Arizona, and Sonora, Mexico.
