Sister Barbara Doherty has been a lamp, a lifeboat and a ladder in my life at various times throughout the years. When I received the news that she had been anointed on July 25, I started to write down some of my most treasured memories of Barbara.

Three Sisters of Providence and two Providence Associates joined the Terre Haute community in speaking out against inequality on Saturday, June 6, 2020. Despite challenges of social distancing, we added our voices at the March for CommUNITY in Terre Haute, Indiana. Black Lives Matter! How are you adding your voice?

Am I doing enough? It sure doesn’t feel like it when I see a video of a man murdered because of the color of his skin.

Everything you do now in the interest of others, in the interest of stemming the tide of this disease, is growing yourself beyond your former boundaries. And that is a good thing.

"My very dear and beloved Daughters … I have confidence that God will not permit any of you to be attacked by the epidemic. Be cheerful, kind to one another; having nothing on your conscience that could trouble you. Do not fast. Let your food be wholesome and well prepared."
