Called to transformation, called to transform
That is what we celebrate today, after all, the witness of two vibrant women willing to keep turning to the God who calls, willing to be transformed in order to transform, willing to sow seeds that others may come to reap.

Sister Joni Luna professes final vows, Sister Jessica Vitente professes first vows
Saturday, Aug. 14, was such a joyous day for the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods! Sister Joni Luna professed her perpetual vows as a Sister of Providence and Sister Jessica Vitente professed her first vows. We are so thankful to our Provident God that we have joyful, brave and loving women continuing to give their YES to our Congregation and to the world.

Quest for God leads to fullness of life as a Sister of Providence
I’ve found a treasure! I’ve found the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary of-the-Woods, Indiana, and they have found me. I pray to Provident God that we will never let go of each other.

Why I say “Yes” to life as a Sister of Providence
"I have a deep calling, a yearning, a longing if you will, to serve and turn my life over to a mission greater than myself." Sister Joni Luna reflects on professing her perpetual vows.

Pray the Rosary with the Sisters of Providence
Join us in this international prayer experience. Sisters native to the United States and Taiwan lead the Rosary in their native languages of English and Mandarin.

Providence in a year of pandemic
Here is a glimpse of what the Providence community has been up to in the past year.

When God plants a seed
It wasn’t until late 2018 when something shifted for me. The thought of being a religious sister changed from unthinkable to an invitation worth considering.

Noticing human trafficking
I learned some possible signs of persons who might be in danger: living with the employer, poor living conditions, multiple people in cramped spaces, inability to speak to the individual alone, answers appear to be scripted and rehearsed, the employer is holding identity documents, signs of physical abuse, being unpaid or paid very little.

Called by God to life as a doctor and a Sister of Providence
In reflecting on my journey, I recalled a quote from Mother Theodore which really resonated with me. “You will see many things in a new light if you give the Holy Spirit free access to your heart.”

Reflections for Foundation Day 2020
We love these women who have so shaped our beloved community.

Blessed Covid-19 and a VIRTUAL Come and See weekend
Women now more than ever are sitting before God in holy silence. They are seeking truth and the real meaning of their lives.

Ask Sister Dina: Why do some sisters change their names?
After Vatican II, however, with its emphasis on the universal call to holiness of all the baptized, some Congregations allowed their members to either keep their religious name or return to their baptismal name.
