...Sister Joanna ministered in education for 50 years in schools in Indiana and Illinois. She also ministered for 22 years at Precious Blood, Jasper, Ind., as a teacher, principal, confirmation coordinator and volunteer. In 1995, she was honored as diocesan “Teacher of the Year.” She returned to the Woods in 2006 but continued to minister at The Helping Hands and Providence Food Pantry. It was said that one of her favorite songs was Simon and Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”...

Sister Catherine Aloyse was born Blanche Patricia on March 17, 1914. She died on March 22, 2005. She was 81 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 69 years. Sister Catherine Aloyse entered the Congregation on July 16, 1935. She professed first vows on Jan. 23, 1938, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1943. ...July 16, 1936. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1939 and 1945, respectively. Sister Mary Michael ministered as a teacher for 11 years in schools in Indiana and Illinois. But in 1950, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical science, and in 1953, she began a ministry as a community pharmacist for 37 years. She officially retired to a ministry of prayer in 2004. She always said that her favorite place to be was in the outdoors....
