Blessing the new columbarium at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods

On Nov. 9, 2019, the new columbarium was blessed and the first cremains interred at Providence Community Cemetery at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Providence Associate Heather Tetzlaff Smith was the first person interred in the new columbarium. Sisters of Providence, Providence Associates and members of Heather’s family gathered for the blessing and iterment.

Here they met the Sisters of Providence and Providence Associate companions who will walk with them in the coming year. The Oct. 19 orientation day began a year for them to spend time reflecting on their lives and their faith and getting to better know the spirituality and mission of the Sisters of Providence. Amy Miranda is a Providence Associate of the Sisters of Providence and a staff member in their Mission Advancement office. Amy is a 1998 graduate of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. After serving in marketing and communication for the Sisters of Providence for nearly 25 years, Amy now serves as the Congregation's annual giving manager.
