Sisters of Providence to host Come and See Fall 2026 Retreat

Is God calling you to be a Sister of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana?

Come and see how the Sisters of Providence are living out their lives of authentic meaning – centered on God and serving others.

All single, Catholic women ages 18-42 are invited to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods for this weekend retreat starting at 4 p.m., Friday, October 23, and concluding at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 25.

During the retreat, all will have the opportunity to hear and experience several sisters’ stories about their call and their lives today.

All will have the chance to immerse themselves in the sacred grounds of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods as they focus on prayer and discernment. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is the perfect place to slow down and listen for the voice of God.

Who are the Sisters of Providence?

  • They practice faithfulness, prayer and total trust in Providence,
  • They live a legacy of love, mercy and justice established by their foundress, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin,
  • They are stewards of land that includes classified forests and organic farmland, where they’ve had their home since 1840,
  • They have a long history of standing up for justice, and
  • Their ministries respond to current needs, including serving at the U.S./Mexico border, teaching, serving in the medical field, in churches, in social justice arenas and much more.

Explore how you can be a vital part of the legacy and mission of a saint as a Sister of Providence.

Check-in for the retreat will take place Friday, October 23, inside the East doors of Providence Hall. Dress for the weekend is casual but attendees may want to bring one nicer outfit for Mass on Sunday. Plan to bring a journal, notepad and a reusable water bottle.
