Sisters of Providence celebrate Senior Jubilees

Twenty-four Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods celebrated their Senior Jubilees on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, with eight sisters celebrating 60 years, 12 celebrating 70 years, three celebrating 75 years and one celebrating 85 years.

60-year Jubilarians

Sister Brigid Ann Bonner

Sister Brigid Ann Bonner is a native of Whiting, Indiana. Currently, she ministers for the homeless at the St. Vincent dePaul Center, Louisville, Kentucky.

Sister Brigid Ann entered the Congregation on Jan. 6, 1958, from Sacred Heart, Whiting. She professed final vows on Aug. 15, 1965.

She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education. She earned a master’s degree in education from Ball State University as well as a master’s degree in social work from the University of Louisville.

Sister Patricia, formerly Sister Joseph Monica, entered the Congregation on Jan. 6, 1958, from Holy Cross, Indianapolis. She professed final vows on Aug. 15, 1965.

She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education. She earned a master’s degree in elementary education from Indiana State University and a master’s degree in community and family counseling from Northeastern Illinois University.

She earned a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Illinois, and her doctorate in mathematics education from Florida State University. The Sisters of Providence, a congregation of 214 women religious, with 300 Providence Associates, collaborate with others to create a more just and hope-filled world through prayer, education, service and advocacy. The Sisters of Providence have their motherhouse at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, located just northwest of downtown Terre Haute, Ind., which is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
