Visiting Saint Mary-of-the-Woods
Founded in 1840 by Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana is a place to relax, reflect or pray. You can immerse yourself in our fascinating history and amazing architecture. Many of our buildings are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Take a guided group tour or a self-guided tour where you can explore at your own pace. There is plenty to do indoors such as visiting the Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Gueirn, the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Animal and nature lovers will discover an abundance of trees and plants as well as a variety of creatures such as alpacas and chickens. You can do a little shopping and stop for a bite to eat. All are welcome.

St. Anne Shell Chapel needs restoration
Water damage to the foundation has caused the walls to bow outward. If we do nothing neither the shells nor this historic building will last for future generations to admire.

St. Anne Shell Chapel: holy ground
St. Anne’s Shell Chapel is one of the most well-known structures at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. The unique interior of this tiny building is covered floor to ceiling with shells from the Wabash River.

An Associate’s Associate
Because of Mel and the good sisters, I share their vision of caring for others with love, mercy and justice.

Growing the gift of flowers
While receiving flowers is a gift, growing them knowing they might make someone’s day a bit brighter is definitely a blessing.

Finding joy alongside life’s difficulties: Tending to Life retreat
Over the last few years, through Divine guidance, I have learned new approaches to life. I have picked up new practices that help me tend to my physical, emotional, mental and spiritual life. The Tending to Life retreat was born from this journey. I hope to offer what I have learned with others, so that they too may find Life even in the midst of suffering.
