Sisters and nearby community celebrate Easter

It was a joyous Easter service on Sunday, with bright, aroma-filled flowers, sisters singing and triumphant piano and organ music. Families in the Wabash community regularly attend Mass with the Sisters of Providence and today was no exception. A set of Zimbelstern bells was recently installed on the organ, adding beautiful tinkling and chiming sounds during many songs. The bells were graciously donated by Dr. Herminia Din and Dr. Darrell Bailey, in honor of Sisters Agnes Joan Li and Donna...

A celebration: The Resurrection of Jesus

...with Jesus in his rebirth! We are resurrected and reborn. We are transformed. Think of the foreshadowing of the Anastasis in the Transfiguration of Jesus. Jesus is accompanied by Peter, James and John. Jesus’ message is always to the community. It is holistic, not individualistic. Rebirth occurs in relationship. How are we moving toward a holistic understanding of Love, Mercy and Justice? Are we bringing our individual gifts to the community at large to foster the One? Happy Anastasis! Alleluia!...

...was not the one Father Dan wanted because Luke was assumed to be a male. After a little while, Father Dan found our Sister Luke and was able to anoint her prior to her death. What are your hopes for the Providence community into the future? Sister Ellen Cunningham (formerly Sister Michael Aquinas)

...until illness prevented her daily trek to Guerin Hall. Ellen did manage three sabbaticals in her lengthy career – one in computer programming in Chicago (how’s that for a sabbatical!), the other year split between Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles and the Mexican American Cultural Center in San Antonio, Texas. A ‘Golden Jubilee’ Reflection
