A Providence Associate’s look at Chapter

...the Sisters of Providence were, celebrating and grieving the transitions that come every five years in our community, and finally, I could be a part of it. I remember distinctly the last Chapter because it was right after I first became familiar with the Sisters of Providence. I remember my friends in formation who I had only just met at the Come and See weekend that spring telling me about their experience. I remember being in awe at the idea,...

The Death of a Dear Friend

...do was call me up and say, “Marymo, this is Benniebo.” I got one of those calls in the spring of 1982 when I had injured my back. She said, “We’re coming down to get you.” I would have had to have an ambulance to take me from Durant, Okla., to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, but the Benedictines took me in and took care of me until I was able to go back to work. Later, I made the Spiritual Exercises under...

...but she didn’t really enjoy it. Her favorite part came after the lesson, when she would care for the horses. Her love of caring for animals is part of what lead her to apply for the internship. “I love the alpacas. It’s a huge part of why I applied, because I wanted to learn more about them,” she said. Because her internship lasts through the spring, Isabelle will get to take part in shearing the alpacas. She is also excited...

Nature is a powerful healing source

...that is dead and dormant, while in the back of my mind summoning the patience that will get me through until spring arrives with all of its excitement. After working 16 years as an environmental consultant Josh Price worked a summer in the White Violet...

Sister Caroline Hatch

...which brought joy to recreation and any other celebrations. She loved summer vacation with other sisters at Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and was considered a “great water skier.” To say she was an excellent and creative first grade teacher probably does not do her justice. One could tell by the sparkle in her eyes, the spring in her step and her boundless energy around children and days packed full of projects, plays, rhythm band and more. She literally taught...
