...Indianapolis. In 2000 I found myself in a state of depression, because, among other things, I was overcommitted. (I’m a One on the Enneagram — all of me was out there “fixing” everything, and there was nothing left inside. I hadn’t taken very good care of myself.) One day I came to the Woods to rest and meditate, and I walked into Providence Center. I picked up a brochure that had the photo of Saint Mother Theodore on it and...

...And young women who heard that call within themselves asked to join their efforts to that of the fledgling Congregation. Today Today, we Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, are certainly fewer in number than we were at the heyday of religious life in the 1960s. At the same time, we consider ourselves deeply blessed. Good, solid young women continue to join us in our efforts to be the face of Providence in whatever ways the world needs us...

I listened and we prayed, and I promised I would come back. This gentleman died 2 days later. It was Providence that there was even time that week for this visit. One day I received a call from the school nurse of...

During the time there was a swimming pool at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods open to the sisters, we saw her in action and watched her as a life guard. On Saturday, Aug. 8, I was walking through the cemetery. Recalling that Aug. 14, will be the first anniversary of Sister Camille’s death, the tears started to run down my face. I told her how very much I missed her and thanked her for her friendship. When I returned to Providence Hall, I went to have my temperature checked. Each day, we are given a sticker to show we had this done. There are different kinds of stickers each day....

Today marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day! The theme of this anniversary is Climate Action. Please join us as we participate in this special Arbor Day Prayer, created by Sister Maureen Abbott. After you’ve celebrated the gift of trees and all Creation through this prayer,...
