Pilgrims of Hope for Creation

September 28, 2025 at 10:30 am 4:30 pm EDT

1 Sisters of Providence
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, IN 47876
Free

Join the Sisters of Providence on Sunday, September 28, for a Pilgrimage of Hope for Creation, a spiritually transformative journey that blends prayer, reflection and a deep commitment to caring for God’s creation.

The pilgrimage is part of the 2025 Jubilee Year celebrations, inviting pilgrims from around the world to take part in a sacred walk of faith and ecological responsibility.

As part of the global call for ecological conversion initiated by Pope Francis in Laudato Si’, this emphasizes the profound connection between spirituality and environmental stewardship.

Pilgrims will embark on a journey that not only strengthens their faith, but also challenges them to take concrete actions for the environment.

The pilgrimage is for everyone! While many of the sites at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods are outside and may require a good amount of walking, we value inclusion and access and will provide alternative sacred spaces for pilgrims who may not be comfortable with the outdoor terrain.

Please dress appropriately for the weather by wearing comfortable walking shoes and make sure to bring sunscreen and a reusable water bottle. Water stations will be available for refills.

Most spaces are accessible and there will be limited transportation to shuttle people who may need extra assistance.

The pilgrimage will take place at various places at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. Check in time is 10-11 a.m., in the Foley Room at Providence Spirituality & Conference Center. Mass is at 11 a.m., in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Lunch will follow in the Community Room of Providence Hall. The pilgrimage will conclude at 4:30 p.m., with a closing prayer beginning at 4 p.m. Pilgrims are invited to bring a sack lunch or order a light lunch prepared by our catering staff.

There is no cost to attend the pilgrimage, but registration is required.
