Scenes from Foundation Day 2026
The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, celebrated their Foundation Day on October 22, 2026, recognizing their heritage and honoring the day Saint Mother Theodore Guerin – foundress of the Sisters of Providence – and her five sister companions first set foot upon the soil at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods on October 22, 1840.
Beginning at 7:30 a.m., several Sisters of Providence, Providence Associates and others came together for a special prayer service at the Log Cabin Chapel, a tradition that was started by Sister Jean Fuqua.
In addition, a special liturgy took place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at 11 a.m.
