Sisters schedule annual used book sale

Are you interested in hard-to-find or out-of-print books, modern novels or self-help books? If so, come to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, for the upcoming Sisters of Providence summer used book sale. You just might strike it rich!

The annual sale – sponsored by Linden Leaf Gifts – will begin on Friday, July 26, and conclude Monday, Aug. 5. Times are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily. The sale will take place in The Foley Room at Providence Spirituality & Conference Center (PSCC) while supplies last!

Our used book sale began as a way for the sisters and other staff, associates and friends, to recycle old books they no longer wanted while also serving as a fundraiser for the Sisters of Providence.

“It’s so important to us,” PSCC Co-Director Sister Paula Damiano said. “The book sale can bring people to the Woods who might otherwise not be here. It also provides books for donations while encouraging reading in children and adults. It ties right in with our mission.

“When people come, they can explore so much,” Sister Paula continued. “There is so much people can do after they buy their books.”

Linden Leaf Gifts/White Violet Farm Store Retail Manager Cassie Lowery added for this year, there are more CDs and DVDs than usual. She also said there are a handful of Lego sets and other various toys of which will be available.

“The book sale is very important for the Congregation and it does bring in a lot of people,” Lowery said.

Book categories include hardbacks, paperbacks, spirituality, Bibles, novels, history, children’s books, gardening, health and crafting.

Items are priced by freewill donation. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Sisters of Providence mission and ministries.

In addition, Linden Leaf Gifts will conduct a clearance sale of items anywhere from 10 percent to 50 percent off throughout the store.
