Sisters to host ‘Reading Retreat’

Join the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, for the upcoming in-person “Reading Retreat.”

The retreat is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 2 and conclude at 11 a.m. on Feb. 4. Guests will stay in the Woodhaven Guest and Retreat House. There is a limit of nine participants.

Those attending will discuss the book, “Do I Stay Christian?” written by Brian McLaren, while reflecting on many of the questions McLaren asks in his book. Participants are asked to read the first chapter before coming and all will read and discuss other parts of the book together.

“Rarely do we get a chance to relax and have time to read with a group of people seeking similar interests,” Sister Jan Craven, SP, said of the retreat. “Brian’s book openly asks many questions Christians are asking themselves in private but are afraid to ask in public.”

Cost to attend the retreat is $275, which includes lodging, snacks and meals. Participants are asked to purchase and bring their own copy of the book.
