The Connecting Link, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Providence, is celebrating its 20th year, in service to West Terre Haute (WTH)! Watch WTWO’s coverage of the open house event on July 8.  Read/view the anniversary newsletter, with remembrances from community leaders and friends.

These are just a few of the ways that Connecting Link has contributed to the community:

  • Affordable Housing Rehabilitation Program
  • Animal control clinics
  • Demolished vacated houses
  • Emergency Flood Fund 2008
  • Town-wide trash pickup
  • West Vigo Community Center loan
  • Vigo County Public Library branch: retention, relocation, service enhancement
  • WTH day care building sale
  • Elementary school retained and upgraded

The ministry, which is located at 830 W. National Avenue in WTH, has assisted more than 3,500 individuals in need of food, money, furniture, clothing or basic services since its beginning in 1997. Connecting Link provides information and referrals to and from other not-for-profit organizations, as well as advocacy within the civic community, to address pressing needs related to social services. All Connecting Link services are free of charge.

The Connecting Link helps clients obtain agency referrals for:

  • Unemployment benefits
  • Disability benefits
  • Social Security benefits
  • Legal assistance/low income
  • Home ownership/low income

The Connecting Link is a ministry in collaboration with Providence Food Pantry. The ministry also collaborates with other civic, religious and educational groups in the West Terre Haute community.
