The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, joined by their Providence Associates, kicked off their 2024 annual meetings on Saturday with a blessing of a new green space located in the northern section of the grounds. Water damage to the base of St. Anne Shell Chapel We recently discovered our beloved St. Anne Shell Chapel at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is in dire need of restoration. Water damage to the foundation has caused the walls to bow outward. Originally built of wood in 1844 and rebuilt of stone in 1876, the beautiful and intricate pattern of shells on the inside of the chapel are something to behold.
