Renovation One hundred years after the laying of the cornerstone, the church underwent a transformation not only to conform with the liturgical norms of the Second Vatican Council, but also to strengthen the floor joists. ...July 16, 1936. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1939 and 1945, respectively. Sister Mary Michael ministered as a teacher for 11 years in schools in Indiana and Illinois. But in 1950, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical science, and in 1953, she began a ministry as a community pharmacist for 37 years. She officially retired to a ministry of prayer in 2004. She always said that her favorite place to be was in the outdoors....

She also ministered as the director of the Providence Volunteer Ministry for the Congregation. Currently, she ministers in residential services at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She valued education and spent much of her time teaching young Anne-Therese and her siblings. These lessons in reading, writing and Scripture would serve her well throughout her life.
