Help us remember the needs of the many,
not merely our own.

I pray for your soul, at peace, at last, with God.
Please pray for me.

I miss your voice on the other end of the line.
I miss your advice. I will surely stumble without it.
I miss the you-ness of you. I wish I could hug you again.

God, we will need you next to us
to guide us through every stage of our “I do,”

I feel failure like a heavy weight, dragging my spirit down.
I want to give life, to make of myself a fertile field,
where goodness grows abundantly.

Come to my aid as I begin again.
Lead me to the right leads, let my resume sing its song
to the most receptive ears. Grant me that interview.

Turn us toward one another to see the hurting humans we are.
Oh God, be present in our family. Make peace possible.

Shore me up, You who make
all things possible. Grant me hope.
Give me strength. Help me be open
to what may be — fewer hours,
less money, even a change in jobs.

Show me clearly the path Providence
is unfolding for me today.
Grant me the courage to walk it,
fearlessly as you want me to.

All we can do is remember: With God all things are possible,
even the mending of a broken home.

Guide us — seller and buyer both —
through this change
with open and eager hearts.

I turn to you for comfort, for the sure knowing
that my pet is with you forever and that
some far-off day, we will be reunited.
