Prayer for a deceased loved one on their birthday
Today I remember.
I celebrate the life of the beloved I knew,
the hands I held, the life I shared.
Though my heart hurts with the pain of missing them,
I know they are with you, my God, in a place for which I long.
Send my soul the balm of memory,
as I recall what we knew of each other
and anticipate all that we have yet to learn.
May my loved one be blessed on their birthday.
May they celebrate with our living God
the gift of their being, so dear to me still.
I pray with full faith that someday I will see them again.
