Sister Tracey Horan

Sister Tracey Horan is a Sister of Providence in formation. She professed first vows in 2017. She is a former intern at White Violet Center for Eco-Justice, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence. She currently ministers as education coordinator at the Kino Border Initiative/Iniciativa Kino para la Frontera where she works with an education team to coordinate and host individuals and groups for immersions to the U.S./Mexico border in order to engage participants on the current reality of migration.

Celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe

Last fall, I participated in a demonstration to support 11 pilgrims on a 50-mile journey through central Indiana. We welcomed the group who had walked from Anderson to Indianapolis to call for a dignified pathway to citizenship for immigrants, millions of whom have lived in the shadows of our country for years.

“Creating Currents of Change” in Memphis

Recently I had the opportunity to migrate south for the weekend to gather with hundreds of justice-minded Catholics in Memphis, Tennessee. My destination was the annual Call to Action National Conference. Moving prayer experiences, dynamic speakers and conversation with other conference attendees in a city with deep roots in civil rights and musical expression challenged me to think deeply about the theme, “The Well of Many Rivers: Creating Currents of Change.”

A living Land Ethic

True confessions of a former White Violet Center intern: staff meetings were sometimes a chance to daydream ... but when we met to hear more about the Sisters of Providence Land Ethic I quickly found that this would not be that kind of staff meeting. This was big.
