Mother Euphrasie Hinkle (1883-1889)
Mother Euphrasie Hinkle
- was a convert from Methodism;
- established first Chicago mission of the Congregation — St. Philip (St. Mel);
- established first East Coast mission of the Congregation — St. Rose, Chelsea, Mass.;
- began building the Church of the Immaculate Conception in 1886;
- in February 1889, Providence Convent, which was built by Mother Theodore, was destroyed by fire;
- died in office, Aug. 17, 1889.
