Plan to join us for our Volunteer Open House!
The Volunteer Services Department of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, will have an open house from 9-11 a.m., EDT, on Thursday, May 18, in the Foley Room of Providence Spirituality & Conference Center.
The open house is a great opportunity for those who have not yet signed up to volunteer for the sisters to get to know the volunteer opportunities in your backyard while enjoying some coffee, tea and light snacks.

As the Volunteer Coordinator, I will be available to answer any questions and help folks apply right there and then. The application process is quick and easy!
Volunteer opportunities range from administration support, I.T. programming, store assistance in the White Violet Farm Store and Linden Leaf Gifts, visiting healthcare residents, working in the gardens at White Violet Center for Eco-Justice, researching and writing, or many one-time events like Fall Farm Days or the bi-annual book sales.
Here are a few opportunities:
White Violet Plant Sale
Help is needed from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., on Friday, May 5, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m., on Saturday, May 6. Volunteers will be boxing plants, cashing out customers and may help customers load their vehicles. Stay for at least two hours or however long you would like!
White Violet Farm Store
Many of our wonderful farm store volunteers are students who will be going home during the summer. Volunteers greet, assist and check out customers, sometimes using an Ipad. Volunteers take either a full shift (11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) or half of a shift (11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. or 2:30-5:30 p.m.) Monday through Saturday.

CDL Driver
Do you have a CDL license or are interested in getting one? The sisters are looking for two to three people who can occasionally drive our small van to events around town. The events are usually three to four hours and happen several times a year.
Communion Minister
Mass is celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception every Tuesday through Thursday at 11:30 a.m., and Sunday at 11 a.m. We will provide Eucharistic Minister training if needed.
Providence Spirituality & Conference Center Front Desk
We are looking for volunteers who can help one or more shifts a week Monday through Wednesday from 3:30-4:30 p.m; Friday from 8:30-10 a.m.; and/or Friday from 12:30-4:30 p.m.
Responsibilities include: Answering and transferring incoming calls to the Sisters of Providence; welcoming and greeting visitors; and directing visitors to the proper locations.
July Book Sale Set-Up
Help is needed July 22-27 to unload and organize many, many, many books. Heavy lifting required! Hours are usually 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Help for two to three hours or up to 50 hours. Just kidding, but, kind of not really!
Feel free to call or email me at 812-535-2878 or volunteer@spsmw.org with any questions about the open house or volunteering
