Biography

Sister Teresa Ann was born Helen Loretta Callahan on Jan. 8, 1917. She died on Feb. 19, 2006. She was 99 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 71 years.

Sister Teresa Ann entered the Congregation on July 16, 1934. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1937 and 1943, respectively.

Sister Teresa Ann began ministering as a teacher at St. Joan of Arc in Indianapolis in 1937. She taught at many schools in Indiana, as well as Illinois, North Carolina, Maryland and Washington, D.C. She also ministered as a principal at many schools. In 1992, she retired from teaching and began a ministry as the CCD coordinator at Divine Savior School, before her final ministry as a parish volunteer at Divine Savior. She returned to the Woods in 2002.

Sister Teresa Ann was known to have two passions: her deep faith and love for God and family, and her love for the Notre Dame Fightin’ Irish.
