Biography
Sister Mary Patricia, formerly Sister Alice Elizabeth, was born Mary Mira Peacock on Sept. 1, 1927. She died on June 28, 2013. She was 85 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 68 years.
Sister Mary Patricia entered the Congregation on Feb. 2, 1945. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1947 and 1952, respectively.
She taught for 27 years at schools in Indianapolis and Illinois. She also served as a pastoral associate at St. Dennis in Lockport, Ill., and at Assumption Parish, Coal City, Ill. She returned home to the Woods in 1998 but continued to volunteer in many ministries, including Providence Food Pantry, the Wabash Valley Health Center and Educational Family Services. She also found time to minister in prayer with inmates at the federal prison.
She was known for her deep, lasting and loyal friendships.
