Biography
Sister Mary Eleanor was born Marilyn Barbara Galvin on Dec. 3, 1926. She died on Dec. 27, 2012. She was 86 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 67 years.
Sister Mary Eleanor entered the Congregation in 1944.
Sister Mary Eleanor ministered as an educator for 41 years, including 10 years as a principal. She taught at schools in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maryland and Indiana. In 1988, she began a new ministry in pastoral care at the Sisters of Providence motherhouse at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She retired in 1997 but continued volunteering until 2004, when she dedicated herself to the ministry of prayer.
Sister Mary Eleanor loved poetry and music and composed text for operettas to be performed by her students.
