Biography

Sister Jean Patrice was born Mary Margaret Keenon on April 2, 1920. She died on Aug. 6, 2010. She was 89 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 71 years.

Sister Jean Patrice entered the Congregation on Feb. 2, 1939. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1941 and 1947, respectively.

She began her teaching ministry at St. John, Vincennes, Ind., in 1941. She ministered in other schools in Indiana, as well as classrooms in North Carolina and Illinois. From 1970 to 1982, Sister Jean Patrice ministered at the Woods, and returned to Illinois in 1986 to minister as librarian at St. Mark, Chicago. She came back to the Woods in 1988 and ministered as director of activities/volunteers in Health Care. She retired in 1990.

It was said that Sister Jean Patrice was a “sweetheart, always worried about everyone else.”
