Biography
Sister Helene Marie was born Catherine Frances Kelly on Dec. 13, 1919. She died on March 25, 2009. She was 89 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 70 years.
Sister Helene Marie entered the Congregation on July 22, 1937. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1940 and 1946, respectively.
She began her teaching ministry at St. Clement, Lansdowne, Md., in 1940. She taught in other classrooms in schools in Maryland as well as teaching in Washington, D.C., New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Illinois and Texas. She returned to the Woods in 1998.
Sister Helene Marie was known to have a spontaneous laugh and had difficulty telling jokes because she could not stop laughing.
