Biography
Sister Dorothy was born Edna Catherine on Oct. 19, 1918. She died on June 17, 2013. She was 94 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 76 years.
Sister Dorothy entered the Congregation on Jan. 11, 1936. She professed first vows on Aug. 15, 1938, and final vows on Jan. 23, 1944.
She began her teaching ministry in 1938 at St. Anthony’s School in Indianapolis. She ministered as a teacher for more than 45 years. She also ministered as an elementary school principal for nine years and as a school secretary for six years. She ministered in schools in Indiana, Illinois, North Carolina, Maryland, New Hampshire and Washington, D.C.
She was fiercely independent and lovingly cared for others.
