Biography
Sister Catherine Sienna was born Helen Wire on Dec. 13, 1911. She died on Oct. 28, 2008. She was 96 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 80 years.
Sister Catherine Sienna entered the Congregation on Aug. 23, 1928. She professed first vows on Feb. 24, 1931, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1936.
Her teaching ministry of 50 years began in 1931 at St. Genevieve, Chicago. She taught at other schools in Illinois, as well as schools in Indiana, Washington, D.C., and California. She retired in the mid-1980s, but continued to provide community service at St. Jude, Indianapolis, before returning home to the Woods in 1989.
Sister Catherine Sienna was an avid roller skater.
