Grounds Technician

Do you enjoy working outdoors, operating equipment, and taking pride in maintaining beautiful landscapes? We are seeking a Grounds Technician to join our Grounds Services team. This full-time position is ideal for someone with experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, lawn care, snow removal, equipment operation, tree maintenance, or general labor who enjoys working as part of a team.

As a Grounds Technician, you will help maintain the beautiful campus of the Sisters of Providence by caring for lawns, trees, roadways, cemetery grounds, and outdoor facilities while supporting special events and seasonal projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Mow, trim, edge, weed, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas.
  • Plant, prune, trim, and remove trees and shrubs using hand and power equipment.
  • Perform snow removal, roadway maintenance, street sweeping, and seasonal grounds care.
  • Assist with cemetery operations, including preparing and closing gravesites and operating tractors, backhoes, and loaders.
  • Collect trash and recyclables and operate equipment such as forklifts, balers, and compactors.
  • Set up and tear down for campus events, meetings, and special projects.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of grounds maintenance equipment safely.
  • Complete other grounds and maintenance projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and walk throughout the workday.
  • Lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year.
  • Comfortable working around powered equipment and machinery.

Grounds Technicians regularly operate equipment including:

  • Commercial mowers
  • Trimmers and leaf equipment
  • Chainsaws and stump grinders
  • Tractors and backhoes
  • Forklifts
  • Dump trucks
  • Street sweepers
  • Snow removal equipment
  • Log splitters and other landscape maintenance equipment
