The Sisters of Providence are welcoming all to Mass on Sundays of Advent; Dec. 1, Dec. 8, Dec. 15, and Dec. 22 beginning at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. All services are open to the public and to people of all faith traditions. Advent Vespers will be at 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 1, Dec. 25 and Dec. 22. A Memory Café is a welcoming place where people living with early to moderate dementia, together with their care partners (and/or family and friends), can gather together to laugh, learn and remain socially connected with others walking the same journey. Memory Cafés are designed to bring people together in the time honored tradition of enjoying a beverage and conversation. They afford opportunities for engagement, support and networking in addition to offering a welcome respite from the day-to-day challenges of dementia.…

Christmas Eve Festival of Lessons and Carols

The Sisters of Providence invite all to the Christmas Eve Festival of Lessons and Carols from 7 p.m. on December 24 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. The Sisters of Providence and the wider community will gather for a service that will include scripture readings, prayer, singing of carols and candle lighting. The service is open to the public and to people of all faith traditions.

But for many it is also wrought with a fair amount of grief and isolation. Dementia is overwhelming not only for those experiencing it, but also for their caregivers and families. This is an opportunity for caregivers to share their stories, ask questions and receive support from others traveling a similar journey.
