Is God calling you to be a Sister of Providence?
Are you being called to be a Catholic Sister?
Single Catholic women ages 18-42 are invited to come and see how the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, live out their lives of authentic meaning – centered on God and serving others — during the Congregation’s spring “Come and See” retreat.

The weekend retreat will begin at 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17, and conclude at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 19.
During the retreat, attendees will have the opportunity to hear several sisters’ stories about their call and their lives. They will also have the chance to experience how the Sisters of Providence live through prayer, vows, ministries and community life.
Participants will also have the opportunity to immerse in the sacred grounds of the Woods while focusing o prayer and their own discernment. They can reflect on the following questions:
- Am I called to be a Sister?
- Is God calling me to religious life?
- Is this the community for me?
During the retreat, learn more about what the Sisters of Providence have to offer, including:
- Faithfulness to prayer and total trust in Providence,
- A lived legacy of love, mercy and just from foundress Saint Mother Theodore Guerin,
- A close-knit community that has called Saint Mary-of-the-Woods with its classified forests and organic farmland home since 1840,
- A long history of standing up for justice, and
- Ministries that respond to current needs.
Those interested in attending the free retreat are encouraged to bring a journal or notepad and a reusable water bottle. Meals and housing will be provided.
