Songs from a Microcosmos (1960)

As we move through the seasons of spring and summer we thought our readers might enjoy this short reflection and a sampling of poems written by the late Sister Mary Catherine Keene, SP, in one of her journals, dated 1960+. Perhaps her writing will call us to notice, experience and give thanks for our own microcosmos — the small universe in which we live.
“I live in a microcosmos. One who is unwilling to recognize this…never has the thrill of discovery — for them there is nothing new under the sun. But for the Microcosmos Dweller life looms large and mysterious. Never a day passes nor does an individual pass who doesn’t bring on a new discovery, a new wonder. Sometimes it’s really quite frightening, but most of the time it’s quite an adventure …” — Sister Mary Catherine Keene
