This Christmas, shop small and support the Sisters of Providence

Unique ornaments are just one of the many items you’ll find at Linden Leaf Gifts.

Tis’ the season and soon it will be time to exchange gifts with family, friends and loved ones. But did you know your holiday shopping could make a difference for the Sisters of Providence? Anytime you purchase merchandise from our two stores, Linden Leaf Gifts and the Farm Store at White Violet, you are supporting the sisters and our ministries. Not only that but you can find some really unique gifts for everyone on your list. We even offer online shopping at LindenLeafGifts.com if you can’t make it in.

Both stores carry a wide variety of merchandise but some of our most popular items are actually handmade by our sisters.  This time of year our sewing room is really buzzing with projects that include things like pillows, aprons, placemats, bags and cloth books. Sister Joni Luna offers her original artwork and jewelry. There are quilted wall hangings and table runners from Sister Margaret Norris. Sister Betty Koressel is the fiber artist behind Krochets by Koressel. You’ll find a variety of unique items from Sister Mary Jeanine Schubert including cloth crayon bags, tooth fairy pillows, hair bows, and tissue holders. Sister Ruth Johnson has several alpaca felting projects and also designs beautiful cards featuring nature. PJ’s for the Soul is beautiful jewelry made by Sisters Paula Damiano and Jan Craven. Sister Pat Linehan designs beautiful cards and postcards that feature some amazing photos. There has recently been a flood of beautiful scarves by Sister Jean Fuqua who was inspired to start weaving again when she saw the array of new colors of our naturally-dyed alpaca yarn now available from White Violet Center. And if you still need Christmas Cards, there is a beautiful set with artwork by Sister Rosemary Borntrager.

Sister Jean Fuqua, SP has been busy at her loom. She wove these beautiful scarves from yarn that was naturally-dyed with plants from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and fiber from our very own White Violet alpacas.

Our Providence Associates also contribute their artistic offerings. Bonnie Wilson, Marilyn Rausch and Sheila Donis all have wonderful and meaningful pieces available for sale. White Violet Center also has several volunteers and interns who make woven, knitted and crocheted items.

So this year make sure a visit to the Woods is on your list. We can promise you a peaceful shopping experience and gifts that will make you feel good about giving.
