The Golden Oldies!
On Saturday, May 7, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College conducted its 179th commencement. During the event, the college honored Sister Marie Brendan Harvey with its Distinguished Alumni Award.
Sister Marie Brendan graduated from the college in 1951 with a bachelor’s degree in music. She also has a master’s degree in music from Catholic University of America.
She began a ministry at the college in 1954, teaching voice, chorale and chant. In 1958, she founded the Chorale and Madrigals. During her time at the college, she also administered in the Alumnae Office.
Sister Marie Brendan entered the Congregation in 1946, and is celebrating her 70th Jubilee this year. Currently, and she ministers as the moderator of Providence High School Alumnae, while living in Eagle River, Wis.
Sister Marie Brendan has also ministered in Montana, Michigan and Illinois.
