A welcoming and fun space to discern your call
Imagine that you are thinking about making a life choice that confuses many people. When you mention what you want to do, you are met with blank stares. Disbelief. Even well-meaning people try to talk you out of it.
If you are thinking about religious life, you may have had similar experiences. This was my experience before entering the Sisters of Providence. In the “real world,” I often struggled to talk with others about what I was considering. It never seemed like the right time and the topic never came up as part of regular conversations.
Now imagine that you find a place where others are thinking about the same thing. In this place, you can safely consider your options and meet others that provide acknowledging nods, empathy, and support. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
This is what “Come and See” weekends have been for me. A supportive and relaxed environment where I could honestly discern my call to religious life. These weekends are opportunities to meet and talk with real sisters. A chance to spend time in prayer. They are a time to consider this life commitment with others like you.
I first began attending Come and See weekends at the Woods in 2006. I joined the community in 2009. Over the past 10 years, I recall past weekends full of laughter, companionship, and comfort. I have met many amazing people considering religious life, some who entered our community, and others who chose a different path.
Come and See weekends are a great way to take a pause in my busy life and spend some time seriously considering a life commitment as a sister. If you are considering religious life and need a welcoming and fun space to discern your call, I invite you to take a pause and join the Sisters of Providence for the Spring Come and See, April 8-10.
