Walter Kindrik: Strong connections

Walter Kindrik retired from Pfizer, Terre Haute, Ind., after 36½ years. He and his wife Mary (RIP) were married for 44 years and raised two boys. Walter is a member of St. Margaret Mary Parish, Terre Haute.

Walter’s connection to the Congregation: A graduate of Kansas State University, Walter converted to Catholicism after marrying Mary. Walter explains that his connection to the Sisters of Providence occurred when their boys went to school.

“The boys [went] to St. Patrick Grade School [Terre Haute] where the sisters taught. Our two boys got a really good education. We were always really happy with the way the boys got started off. They both turned out great,” says Walter.

Through the boys, Mary’s connection to the Congregation grew. She often visited sisters at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

Why does Walter support the Congregation? “I support the sisters because my wife really supported them, because of my sons’ training and because I’m a confirmed Catholic.”
