Save the Date!

On October 25th, 2014 the Sisters of Providence are inviting all those who love Saint Mother Theodore to the grand opening of the ALL NEW shrine! Tours and refreshments will be offered from 1-4 p.m. A time for prayer service is to be determined.

The ALL NEW shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin

The famous “Put yourself gently into the hands of Providence” quote is in stone on the new resting place for Mother Theodore’s remains in her permanent shrine.

After many years of planning and months of construction, the new shrine for Mother Theodore is finally coming together.

The new shrine is being designed to represent Mother Theodore’s journey from France to the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. This includes a french room, which will reflect on her time spent in France, and a ship room, which will tell the story of her arduous voyage across the Atlantic ocean in the 1800s.

Continuing through, you will an exhibit area filled with Mother Theodore’s stories about her life on U.S. soil and at her Woods. This will even include her original writing desk and other artifacts.  Tucked behind her amazing life story, will be her final resting place…the all new shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin. The new shrine will serve as a quiet place for prayer and reflection.

An interim shrine honoring Saint Mother Theodore Guerin is located at the front of the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind.
