About the new Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin

The new shrine has been designed to represent Mother Theodore’s journey from France to the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind. This includes a french room, which reflects on her time spent in France, and a ship room, which tells the story of her arduous voyage across the Atlantic Ocean in the 1800s.

Continuing through, you will find an exhibit area filled with Mother Theodore’s stories about her life on U.S. soil and at her Woods. This will even include her original writing desk and other artifacts.  Tucked behind her amazing life story is a chapel which will serve as the final resting place for Saint Mother Theodore Guerin as well as a quiet place for prayer and reflection. The new shrine will open on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 with a grand celebration beginning in the Providence Spirituality and Conference Center.
