Biography
Sister Rose Marie was born Mary Bridget Garvey on June 9, 1918. She died on March 16, 2006. She was 87 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 68 years.
Sister Rose Marie entered the Congregation on July 22, 1937. She professed first vows on Jan. 23, 1940, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1945.
Sister Rose Marie began her ministry in teaching in 1940 at Marywood, Evanston, Ill. She also taught at schools in Indiana, Massachusetts and Chicago. From 1971 to 1987, she ministered as a psychologist at Good Samaritan Hospital and pastoral associate at Sacred Heart Parish in Vincennes, Ind., before ministering as a psychologist at Wishard Hospital, Indianapolis. She then ministered as a consulting psychologist at Franklin County Health Center, Franklin, Ind., before returning to the Woods in 1992 to serve as the Congregation’s art curator until 2001.
