Biography
Sister Marie Paul was a native of Terre Haute. She ministered as a teacher of applied music at St. Francis Borgia School in Chicago since 1963. She passed away on March 30, 2019. She was 91 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 73 years.
Sister Marie Paul entered the Congregation on July 22, 1945. She professed final vows on January 3, 1953.
She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in music education. She also has a master’s degree in music education from Indiana State University.
Sister Marie Paul also ministered as a teacher in Indiana, California, North Carolina and Illinois. She ministered at St. Francis Borgia School in Chicago for more than 50 years.
Of her ministry as a teacher, Sister Marie Paul said, “Students are a channel of God’s grace for me. I’m at home with them as much as in the chapel or at prayers. They just affect me that way … (Adding) Also, it is a fitting way to practice patience.”
