Biography
Sister Marie Brendan was born Mary Therese Harvey on Jan. 2, 1926. She died on Dec. 27, 2016. She was 90 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 70 years.
Sister Marie Brendan entered the Congregation in 1946.
Gifted with a beautiful singing voice, Sister Marie Brendan ministered as a music teacher. Her first teaching ministry was at St. Benedict in Terre Haute, Ind. She also ministered at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College for 18 years, serving as professor of vocal music, director of the College Chorale, and founding director of the College Madrigals. Her later years were spent in pastoral ministry.
She was known to fill the room with her voice during renditions of “Bless this House,” and “Danny Boy.”
