Biography
Sister Maria, formerly Sister Maria Immaculata, is a native of Chicago. Currently, she ministers in outreach and residential services at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Sister Maria entered the Congregation in 1961, professing first vows in 1964 and final vows in 1970.
She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education and earned a master’s degree in reading from Northern Illinois University.
Of her ministries, Sister Maria taught at Maternity BVM in Chicago from 1971-1975, and also taught at Haugan Elementary School in Chicago from 1990-2009. She also ministered as a teacher at Costa Catholic in Galesburg, Illinois, from 1975-1978.
She returned to the Woods in 2019.
